Amazon Fire OS 5 - Bellini

Fire's Newest Home Experience

Amazon Fire OS 5 - Bellini

Fire's Newest Home Experience

Fire OS 4 was getting long in the tooth, so Amazon invested quite heavily into redesigning the experience to make it more user friendly, sleek, and fix many of the UX issues found in the previous iterations. I was fortunate enough to work with a small dedicated team to design the entire "Bellini" Fire OS 5 Home experience for the Fire line of tablets. This involved a large number of design tasks including:

  • Tastemaking; spent many hours creating numerous explorations and concepts
  • UX Spec docs
  • UX flows
  • UI Comps/Layouts for each content tab
  • Prototyping/Validating
  • Conducting user-research studies

Amazon's Mapping Platform

UpNext, a mobile mapping company I founded with 3 other friends was acquired in 2012 by Amazon. Since then I have been been pivotal in designing what is now known as Amazon Maps. Amazon Maps is now the default map app on all Kindle Fire Tablets and the Fire Phone.

A big moment in my career was seeing Jeff Bezos present my work live on stage. He does a great job of showing all the key features I worked on. Sweet.
